How to Watch IPTV on a Windows PC or Mac (2026 Guide)

How to set up IPTV on Windows and Mac

Windows users can follow steps 1 to 4 for a player with a TV guide. Mac users, or anyone who wants a quick test, can jump to step 5 for VLC. Step 8 adds a third option for both. Our Live Chat team can share the exact link format if something does not open.

1. Find your M3U link and login in the email

   Open the IPTV Nord email on the computer. It contains your M3U link, a long web address that loads the whole channel list, and your Xtream Codes details: username, password and server URL. Keep it open, because you will copy from it.

2. Windows: install MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store

   Open the Microsoft Store from the Start menu, search for MyIPTV Player and check that the publisher is Vbfnet Apps. Select Get or Install, then Open. The app is free, with optional add-ons.

3. Windows: add your playlist in MyIPTV Player

   Open Settings in the app and choose Add new playlist and EPG source. Under Remote channel list, type a name such as IPTV Nord, paste your M3U link into the URL box and select Add remote list. Recent versions also accept an Xtream Codes login; if you see that option, enter the server URL, username and password there instead, which brings the TV guide and catch-up with it.

4. Windows: select the playlist and refresh

   Back in Settings, pick IPTV Nord under Select channel playlist and select Refresh. Then open Channels. The first load can take a minute, because the list is large.

5. Windows or Mac: download VLC from videolan.org

   Go to videolan.org and download VLC for your system. Only use that site, because look-alike download sites exist. On Windows, run the installer and click Next through the screens. On a Mac, open the downloaded file and drag VLC into Applications; the first time you open it, confirm that you want to open an app downloaded from the internet.

6. Open your M3U link in VLC

   • Windows: click Media, then Open Network Stream (or press Ctrl+N). On the Network tab, paste the M3U link and click Play.
   • Mac: click File, then Open Network (or press Cmd+N). Paste the M3U link and click Open.

   VLC reads the playlist and starts the first channel.

7. Browse the channel list in VLC

   On Windows, click View, then Playlist (or press Ctrl+L) to see every channel; on a Mac, open the playlist from the menu bar or the playlist button in the VLC window. Type a channel name in the search box instead of scrolling, then double-click to play it.

8. Optional: try the Smarters Pro beta with Xtream Codes

   For the same kind of app you may use on a phone or TV, download the Windows or Mac version of Smarters Pro from the Downloads section of smarterspro.com. Both are marked beta. If a Mac refuses to open it, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Then choose the Xtream Codes login and enter your username, password and server URL. Which IPTV player should you use on a computer?

Use MyIPTV Player on Windows if you want a TV guide, VLC on either system for a quick free test, and the Smarters Pro beta if you want the same app as on your phone.

On a Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or newer), some iPad IPTV apps can also be installed from the Mac App Store. Their App Store pages say "Designed for iPad" and sometimes "Not verified for macOS", which means they may run but can look odd on a big screen.

How to make VLC work better with a big M3U playlist

VLC loads the whole M3U playlist at once, so the main tricks are to give it a bigger buffer, search instead of scrolling and, if you only watch English TV, use a shorter list.

• Raise the caching. In the Open Network Stream window, tick Show more options and raise Caching to about 3000 ms. VLC then stores a few seconds of video before playing, which smooths out small drops.
• Search the playlist. With 25,000+ channels plus movies, scrolling takes forever. The search box finds a channel in seconds.

Is a computer a good way to watch IPTV?
