How do I find out who my IPTV provider is?

Where can I find out which IPTV service I have?

Check these five places, in this order. One of them almost always names the service.

1. Your welcome email. Search your inbox, and the spam folder, for words like "username", "M3U", "Xtream", "portal", "server" or "IPTV". The sender's address and signature usually name the service.
2. Your payment record. Your bank history shows the name and email of whoever received an e-Transfer, plus any message you typed. Card and PayPal statements show the seller's name. For example, an IPTV Nord payment goes to ITLOGY LLC, with an order number starting with NRD.
3. The server address in your app. In TiviMate, open Settings, then Playlists, and select your playlist; the TiviMate guide shows these screens. 4. The person who sold it. Many people buy through a friend, an installer or a reseller. They know which service they resell.
5. The box itself. Preloaded boxes sometimes carry a seller's sticker. The MAC address on the label of a MAG box does not name the provider, but a provider can check whether that MAC is registered with them.

A server address is a clue, not proof. IPTV servers often use a web address that has nothing to do with the brand name, and typing it into a browser rarely shows a website. When in doubt, send the address to the service you think it is and ask them to confirm.

Is the app name the same as my IPTV provider?

No. TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, Set IPTV and similar apps are only players. They show whatever login you type in, and their makers do not sell channels or know who your provider is. What if my IPTV seller disappeared?

If your login stopped and the seller no longer answers, treat that service as gone and protect your money first.

• Stop paying that contact, even if someone offers a "new server" for a fee.
• Act fast if you paid by card or PayPal. Ask your card issuer about a dispute, or open a PayPal dispute: PayPal allows 180 days from the payment date.
• Report a scam to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or at 1-888-495-8501.
• Ignore "recovery" offers. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre warns about the recovery pitch, where scammers contact past victims and ask for a fee to get their money back.
• Keep your device and app. Only the login stopped working. You can add a new provider's login in the same app, as shown in how to switch IPTV providers.
