Can you get IPTV on a Roku TV or stick?

Why is IPTV harder on a Roku than on a Firestick?

A Roku only runs apps from Roku's own store, and that is the whole problem. Roku uses its own closed operating system, not Android, so it cannot install Android apps, APK files or the Downloader app that Fire TV owners use to get TiviMate.

Roku once let people add unlisted "private channels" with a code, but it removed them for good on 23 February 2022. Developer mode still exists, but it is a test tool for people building their own Roku apps. Videos that promise a secret Roku code for IPTV are out of date.

So on a Roku, IPTV depends on which players small developers publish in the store. That is also why our installation guide has no Roku guide.

Is there an IPTV player for Roku?

Yes. In September 2026 the Canadian Roku store, now called the Streaming Store (many people still say Channel Store), lists dozens of third-party IPTV players that accept an M3U link or an Xtream Codes login. The best-known name is Smarters Pro from Tech Smarters Private Limited, the maker of the official Smarters Pro app on other devices, which arrived on Roku in 2026. None of these players includes channels: they only play the login from your provider.

Before you rely on one, know what to expect:

• Free to add, sometimes paid to keep. The listings cost nothing in the store, but several ask you to activate the app on the maker's website after a trial of a few days. That fee goes to the app maker, not to your IPTV provider.
• Few reviews. Most listings we checked had only a handful of ratings, and apps appear and disappear without warning.
• Basic TV guides. Expect a simpler guide and fewer features than TiviMate offers on a Fire TV Stick.
• Borrowed names. Many players copy the Smarters name, and a listing called TiviMate comes from a different developer than the real TiviMate. Always check the developer line.

How do you set up IPTV on a Roku TV or stick?

To try a store player, follow this order:

1. Press Home on the Roku remote and open the Streaming Store, or use Search.
2. Search for IPTV player. Read the developer name, rating and description. Pick one that mentions Xtream Codes, so the guide and movie library load by themselves.
3. Select Add app, then open it from your home screen.
4. Most players show a device code or a MAC address. Some let you type your login on the TV; others ask you to enter it on their website from your phone.
5. Enter the server URL, username and password from your provider's email, or paste the M3U link.
6. Test live channels, the guide and a 4K channel for a day before you pay any activation fee.

Can you cast or mirror IPTV to a Roku instead?

Yes, and it is fine for one game or a movie night. Most Roku devices accept two kinds of connection:

• AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad or Mac. It works on most Roku models running Roku OS 9.4 or later. Look for Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit on your Roku, or check Roku's list of AirPlay-compatible models.
• Screen mirroring from Android phones and Windows PCs. On the Roku, open Settings > System > Screen mirroring and set the mode to Prompt or Always allow. Then start mirroring from the phone's quick settings (Smart View on Samsung phones). A few older models, such as the Roku Express 3700, cannot mirror.

The catch: your phone has to stay on and close by, messages can pop up on the TV, and the battery drains fast. It is a stopgap, not a daily setup. Our answer on casting IPTV from a phone to a TV covers each method.

Why do many Roku owners add a streaming stick for IPTV?

Because a small streaming stick removes every Roku limit for less than a few months of cable. Plug it into a free HDMI port, switch the input, and you get TiviMate with a cable-style TV guide. The Roku side of the TV keeps working for your other apps.
